Comrade Mizher: Mass action needed to support Palestinian steadfastness

The following is a statement made by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine:

Comrade Jamil Mizher, member of the Central Committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, called for an immediate and complete end to the farce of negotiations with the occupation, and ending the internal Palestinian division in order to confront the occupation and its newest attacks on Jerusalem and al-Aqsa. He emphasized the need for a mass movement of the Arab and Muslim public to support Palestinian steadfastness under occupation.

In a March 17, 2010 statement to Al-Alam News, Comrade Mizher said, "There is a mass movement in occupied Palestine and in exile to preserve Palestinian national constants and principles in the face of the attacks of the occupation and the latest Israeli brutality in Jerusalem and the West Bank," noting that this movement was also struggling against the cover provided to the occupation by the U.S. administration and the silence of the so-called "international community."

Comrade Mizher added that the support of the U.S. and the complicity of the international community encourages the occupation to persist in its policy of settlement and attacks on holy sites. He emphasized that it was quite clear in this environment that what Arabs and Palestinians must do now is to end the entirety of this farce of negotiation with the occupation and instead, end the internal division in order to defend Jerusalem and Palestine.

He said that there is no option for the Palestinian people except to uphold national unity and activate the resistance to confront the atrocities of the occupation taking place before the eyes and ears of the world. He called for mass action at all levels by the Arab and Islamic peoples and nations, and all progressive forces in the world, to support the Palestinian people's steadfastess under occupation, to support the Palestinian right to resist, and to support victory for Palestine against the oppressive measures aimed at the Palestinian people and their holy places.

Furthermore, Comrade Mizher demanded that all Arab countries end their relations with the occupation, stop all forms of normalization with Israel, and expel Israeli ambassadors from Arab countries. He said that these governments must take this situation seriously and support the sacrifices of the Palestinian people and respond with actions, not mere words.
